What’s unique about my business? That’s a question business owners’ ask themselves regularly and get asked a lot by their coaches. It is a very difficult question to answer. It’s one that we come back to ourselves as our own marketing agency evolves. The search for the elusive Unique Selling Proposition (USP)!
We’ve heard the USP also referred to as a Category of One. This is an exercise that aims to get to the same place as a USP. It involves an analysis of a business to identify any area of its activity, that is relevant and important to customers, where it can say only it has that particular valued attribute.
Our experience of working with clients has shown us that it is much easier to undertake this work in someone else’s business than in your own!
What makes Sixth Sense Marketing stand out?
We are experienced marketers who have worked in demanding environments where the quality threshold has been high. That’s hardly unique, but also suggests we have have never made a mistake, which is, of course, ludicrous!
However, as Sixth Sense Marketing has evolved and as our clients respond to the work we undertake on their behalf, our USP light has started to shine more brightly.
Our clients take our marketing competence for granted. They expect us to make the ‘right calls’ i.e. we know the best marketing tools for the their job and how to use them.
We can hone our focus down further by overlaying a geo-segment; that most of our work comes from Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire and London. We also have awards and other recognition to independently validate our claims. But that just puts us in a smaller pond and now we’re all decent sized fishes!
What really puts Sixth Sense Marketing in a category by itself is how we do our work. More specifically, we intuitively adjust our style to mirror a business owner. In effect we do their marketing as they would do it, if they had the time, knowledge and skills.
As agency owners we have high levels of emotional intelligence – this is a wired-in characteristic and a part of our personality. We are able to use it in our marketing service and it’s impossible to copy as only we can do it our way.
